The Two Flats in Modica, Sicily, are located at Via Sbalzo No. 6, 97015 Modica RG, Italy. (Learn more about the flats available for rent: Grotta Alta and Grotta Bassa.)

The Comiso International Airport is scheduled to open in 2011. The airport is located about 35 km from Modica. At this time, there is no definite opening date. Airlines are waiting for the date, including Ryanair, who has expressed their desire to use Comiso as a “hub”. At this time the closest airport is in Catania, about a 90 minute drive from Modica. We recommend renting a car to explore Modica’s nearby Cities, beaches, and areas of interest.

Directions from Catania: From the Catania Airport, follow signs for the Autostrada to Siracusa (A18 and E45). The Autostrada has recently been completed from Catania to Rosolini (south of Siracusa). Stay on the A18/E45 Autostrada until it ends at Rosolini, then follow signs to Ispica, Modica, and Ragusa (E45/SS115). Take the roundabout exit at Ispica to Modica (E45/SS115). Follow signs to Modica (E45/SS115).

The highway from Rosolini to Modica is a good, one lane road in each direction. Follow signs to Modica. When approaching Modica take SP43, which goes through the modern part of the City on Via Nazionale. Follow signs to “centro” or “centro storico”. The flats are located in Modica bassa (lower city), which is in the “centro storico” (historical center).

Once down the ravine, after the roundabout with the large fountain in the middle of it, take a right at the next roundabout, onto Via Marchese Tedesci. When the road splits (about a quarter mile from the roundabout), go left onto Via Salvatore Quasimodo, and park the car on the left side of the road. Use the first set of steps on the left, after the road splits, to access both flats.

Arrange to meet with our manager prior to arriving in Modica. He will be happy to provide more detailed driving directions for your arrival. We recommend contacting him at least several days in advance, to ensure the exchange of keys and instructions goes smoothly.

If you fly into Catania late in the day, you may want to consider staying there for the night. We recommend staying at the Catania City Center B&B. They provide an excellent B&B at a very reasonable price. It is located in the centro storico of Catania. They are very accommodating and knowledgeable, multi-lingual, and can assist with many things, including car rentals.
